Miaob Privacy Policy

Miaob ("the extension") takes your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have.

1. Information we collect

Anonymous device identifier

On first use, we generate an anonymous identifier (fingerprint) for your browser to recognize you as a unique user. It contains no personal information such as your name, email or phone number.

Web text used for instant analysis

When you open a webpage with automatic checking enabled, the extension reads text snippets that look like article content and sends them to the Miaob server for idiom, quote, xiehouyu, expression-highlight and text-issue analysis. Right-click checking, deep checking and sharing also send text/content you actively select or confirm.

Usage data

We record basic account data such as credits and activation status (stored locally and on our servers).

2. Information we do NOT collect

We do not collect your browsing history, bookmarks, passwords, cookies or social media accounts, and we do not actively record the full URLs you visit.

Text used for instant analysis is sent to our server; by default it is not stored long-term as a full webpage. When you create a share report, the article title, original URL, findings and context are saved so the shared link can display it; when you submit feedback, the related text and feedback may also be saved to improve the service.

3. How we use information

We use the information we collect only to:

• Provide account features such as credits and activation
• Improve the accuracy of check rules based on your feedback
• Improve product features and user experience

4. Storage and sharing

Your data is stored on our own servers. We do not sell, rent or share your personal information with any third party, except where required by law.

We may use a third-party AI service (OpenRouter) to process some text-check requests. The provider may see the text you submit to complete the analysis, but never your extension identity. Please avoid putting sensitive information such as passwords, ID numbers or contact details into text you analyze.

5. Data security

We take reasonable physical, technical and administrative measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption and access controls.

6. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Uninstall the extension to stop all data collection
• Contact us at admin@miaob.net to delete your account data

7. Policy updates

This policy may be updated from time to time. On material changes we will announce them on this page. Continued use of the extension means you accept the updated policy.
