📖 Auto highlighting
After installing, open any Chinese webpage (news, novels, blogs...) and Miaob automatically detects and highlights:
- Rust-red highlight — idioms
- Green highlight — classic quotes
- Yellow highlight — xiehouyu
- Red underline — likely typos / grammar errors
🖱️ Look up meanings
Hover over a highlighted word and a tooltip shows:
- Idioms: origin, allusion, explanation
- Quotes: full poem, author, dynasty
- Xiehouyu: full punchline, meaning
- Errors: correction suggestion
📊 Reading report
A reading report panel appears on the right side of the page, summarizing every finding:
- Error count and type statistics
- Lists of the idioms, quotes and xiehouyu found
- Click an item to jump to its position on the page

Which browsers are supported?
Built on the Chrome extension platform, so it works on all Chromium-based browsers: Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera and more.
Which websites are supported?
All Chinese web pages, including news, novels, blogs and forums. Some special pages (like chrome:// pages) can't be injected due to browser security policies.
Do I need to register?
No. An anonymous account is created automatically after installation. Data stays local; after WeChat activation you can sync across devices.
Is the extension safe?
It never collects your browsing history, bookmarks or passwords; when checking is enabled, text snippets are sent for analysis. View the privacy policy.
